BeaconAI ("we", "our", "the company") develops mobile and web applications including BeaconAI Tools, StudyForge, BeaconAI Off-Grid, BeaconAI Kitchen, AdventureForge, BeaconAI Resume, and ColorShare. This policy explains what data we collect across all BeaconAI products, how we use it, and your rights.
Most BeaconAI apps are offline-first and store data only on your device. ColorShare is the exception — it requires an account and uses cloud storage to power its social/community features. Where practices differ by app, this policy says so explicitly.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 All Apps
- Device information: OS version and device model, used only for crash diagnostics.
- App preferences: Theme, units, and display settings stored locally on your device (or in your account, for ColorShare).
- Feedback submissions: If you submit a bug report or suggestion, your message is sent to our support email. No account is required, except where noted below.
- Email address: Only if you voluntarily sign up for early access or beta testing through our website, or if you create an account in an app that requires one.
1.2 BeaconAI Resume — Additional Data
- Resume and career content: Names, employment history, education, skills, and other content you enter to build a resume. This content is stored locally on your device.
- Uploaded documents: Source resumes, job postings, and certificates you upload are processed for content extraction and are not stored permanently — only the extracted text and metadata remain on your device after processing.
- Subscription status: Managed via RevenueCat (see Section 7) to determine your tier (Free, Basic, Pro) and unlock paid features.
1.3 ColorShare — Additional Data
ColorShare requires an account and is not offline-first in the way other BeaconAI apps are. Creating an account means we collect and store more than our other apps:
- Account information: Your Apple ID or Google account identifier, used solely for authentication. We do not see or store your password.
- Profile information: Username, avatar, bio, accent color preference, and any social links you choose to add.
- User-generated content: Photos you upload, post descriptions, comments, color swatch data, book/material tags, and any other content you post. This content is stored on Firebase servers, not locally on your device.
- Social graph data: Followers, following, likes, bookmarks, and comment history.
- Content moderation data: Uploaded images are automatically screened using Google Cloud Vision's SafeSearch tool before being made visible to other users (see Section 3).
- Notification tokens: Used to deliver push notifications for likes, comments, and new followers (Firebase Cloud Messaging). You can disable these in Settings.
We do NOT collect, across any app:
- Your name, email, or any personal identifiers unless you provide them voluntarily or they are required to create an account (ColorShare only)
- Location data beyond what you explicitly grant for specific features
- Camera or microphone data beyond what is processed locally on your device or transmitted only for the specific feature you initiated
- Any data sold to advertisers
2. Camera & Microphone
Several BeaconAI apps use your device camera or microphone for specific features — QR scanning, handwriting capture, photo identification, speech to text, barcode scanning (ColorShare), and photo uploads (ColorShare, BeaconAI Kitchen). All processing happens on-device or is transmitted only to our secure AI proxy or content moderation service for the specific feature you initiated. Images and audio are never stored by us after processing is complete, except for ColorShare, where photos you intentionally post to the community are stored as part of your account content until you delete them.
3. Artificial Intelligence
Some features in BeaconAI apps use AI processing via our secure Cloudflare Workers proxy. This includes:
- Handwriting and document image recognition (BeaconAI Tools, BeaconAI Kitchen)
- Resume and job posting content extraction, bullet rewriting, summary generation, and cover letter drafting (BeaconAI Resume) — your resume content and any job postings you upload are sent to Anthropic's Claude API via our proxy solely to generate the content you requested
- Meal planning suggestions from photographed pantry/fridge contents (BeaconAI Kitchen)
- AI-generated campaign content (AdventureForge)
Data sent for AI processing is transmitted securely, used only to complete the specific feature you requested, and is never stored by us after the request completes, sold, or used to train AI models.
ColorShare additionally uses Google Cloud Vision (not Claude) to automatically screen uploaded images for policy violations before they are shown to other users. This is separate from the AI features above. See Section 13 of our Terms of Service for our full content moderation policy.
4. Advertising
Free tiers of BeaconAI apps may display ads:
- Mobile apps: served by Google AdMob
- Web apps (BeaconAI Resume, ColorShare): served by Google AdSense
AdMob and AdSense may collect device identifiers and usage data per their own privacy policies. Paid tiers are completely ad-free. Tactical/Night mode in BeaconAI Tools suppresses all ads regardless of subscription status. The same subscription check that suppresses mobile ads also suppresses web ads for paid subscribers.
5. Data Storage
BeaconAI Tools, StudyForge, BeaconAI Off-Grid, BeaconAI Kitchen, AdventureForge, and BeaconAI Resume store your app data locally on your device. We have no access to this locally stored data. Uninstalling these apps removes all locally stored data associated with them. BeaconAI Resume optionally allows you to export a backup ZIP file to your own Google Drive or iCloud Drive — we never have access to this backup.
ColorShare stores your account and content data on Google Firebase servers, because the app's core function is sharing content with other users. Deleting your ColorShare account removes your profile and posts from public view; see our Terms of Service for our data deletion timeline.
6. Website
Our website at getbeaconai.dev does not use tracking cookies or analytics, except for ad-supported pages serving Google AdSense, which may use cookies as described in Google's own advertising policies. If you submit our early access signup form, your email address is collected via Google Forms and stored in a private Google Sheet accessible only to BeaconAI. We will only contact you regarding early access and beta testing for the apps you expressed interest in. You can request removal from our list at any time by emailing us.
7. Third-Party Services
- Google AdMob — ad serving on free tiers of mobile apps
- Google AdSense — ad serving on free tiers of web apps (BeaconAI Resume, ColorShare)
- Google Play — app distribution and purchase management
- Apple App Store — app distribution and purchase management
- Google Forms / Google Sheets — early access email collection
- Cloudflare Workers — secure AI proxy
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management across iOS, Android, and web (BeaconAI Resume, ColorShare). RevenueCat does not process payments directly; payments are handled by Apple, Google, or Stripe (for web purchases).
- Stripe — payment processing for web subscriptions (BeaconAI Resume, ColorShare web versions), via RevenueCat Web Billing
- Firebase (Google) — backend infrastructure for ColorShare, including authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, push notifications, and analytics
- Google Cloud Vision — automated content moderation for ColorShare image uploads
- Google Books API — book metadata lookup for ColorShare
- Amazon Associates — ColorShare includes affiliate links to Amazon for books and craft materials. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made through these links. Amazon's own privacy policy governs data collected through their site.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.
8. Children's Privacy
BeaconAI apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. ColorShare requires account creation via Apple or Google Sign-In and is not intended for users under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our apps evolve. The current version is always available at getbeaconai.dev/privacy and within each app under Settings → Privacy Policy.
